Post Bankruptcy Rebuilding

Many times, that BK standing out on your report, will make your rebuilding different from those who simply have some negatives. Share your stories (both who is friendly and who isn't) here.

A friend and employee of ours did a bankruptcy and within a year or so he was able to get a few credit cards.
One was Belden Jewels, (mall jewelry store)which in turn got him to get NOW DON'T CHOKE, Captial One, which I feel is NOT a good card, which got him to be able to get a Sears card (cannot stand Sears) which got him to have a Discover card. I have just had him send away for his CR so I can check it out, and then I am going to have him apply for a good CC and also go to his local credit union and open up an account there which will give him a debit card, and perhaps a very small line of credit.
I will let you know what happens.

Sears is now Citi, which makes it a good thing. If you get a Sears card, pay on time and don't go over limit, you will probably soon be able to get a regular Citi card.

I recently got a Sears card as if you opened one you got 10% instant off.

SO I charged some Lands End clothing and then the bill came, and I paid the bill in full.

I then got a THIRTY FIVE DOLLAR late charge!

Now this killed me as the bill was dated let us say the 10TH I received it on the 20Th and sent the check on the 23RD which they posted on the 28TH, and by ONE DAY I was late.

I don't get it as this is not even TWENTY EIGHT DAYS.

I called up and complained and as a courtesy they took off the $35 bucks but I am not going to use that card again, as I feel they make it very hard to pay on time.

As for citibank when I had them they would give you a credit line increase every three months and or when you asked for it immediately.

I don't know how they work things anymore but I never had a problem with them.

I usually just go to their site and pay online, at least the minimum. Then no late fee, I can send the rest later, or I can just pay the whole thing online.

Yes I should have done that. I used to pay a lot of my bills on line with I think it was BILL PAY thru PAY PAL, but they stopped that.
So now I need to open up an account that if someone gets into it it is no big deal and I will again be able to pay my bills on line.

Any suggestions?

I've just used my regular checking account, go to the credit card site and have them debit my checking account. I've been doing it for years with no problems.

I don't use the bank's bill pay, though.

I wouldn't want to use my real checking account as there are too many accounts assoicated with it,so this morning I am going to get an acciunt from another bank and keep a small some in it, so if there was ever a problem I would not lose much, and everytime I pay on line I will put 50 cents in a jar for mad money ; )

Here is a pro se'er who won his appeal in BK court and let me say this again, "You gotta stand for something or lay down for anything." I do not know why some judges wanna be hard azzes when dealing with self represented litigants because they are realy suppose to look out for pro se'ers.
