Company provided identity theft expense benefit?

Anyone else's company provide an identity theft expense benefit?

Mine provides:

- up to $10,000 for "reasonable" legal fees and lost wages for time taken off to deal with it

- notary and certified mail charges

- fees to reapply for loans that were denied

- charges for long distance calls

This is the first company I've worked for that provides this. And, its no cost to me. I figure this is somewhat non-standard but was curious as to whether my company is unique.

1st I've heard of this, but is kind of kool though. Maybe one of the higher ups have dealt with this issue and knows what a B it can be.

I've never heard of it as a benefit for everyone. I've heard of something similar being done when data has been compromised. I wonder if that happened at your company sometime in the past?

Nope, never had any data issues here to prompt it. It has been offered since Jan 2005. It doesn't appear in your cafeteria buffet of benefits, and I don't know how many people really are aware, but its on our benefits website.

We have a lot of other really cool benefits like the company covers all insurance on rental cars whether for personal or business use, so you don't have to buy the extra insurance or hope yours covers it. They will reimburse you for your deductible on your auto insurance if you get in an accident in your personal vehicle while commuting to or from work. They have several health related "bonuses" if you reach certain health goals.
