HELP!!!! Finding domain name owner

I need to find someone who owns a domain name my company wants to purchase. Of course we have all of his information including email and phone.

The problem is the guy is choosing not to respond, or maybe he died .

The domain is registered through godaddy.com.

Sooooooooo how do I find this guy? All conventional attempts have failed and I am thinking there must be some sort of way of getting to him through godaddy.

My last resort may even be to subpoena him for violating a copyright or something along those lines. Again that is a last resort.

This would make me look very good to my company........very good.

We are willing to pay for this domain name and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Neil but I already have all of that info. The guy apparently does not want to talk. The issue now seems to be....how can I encourage him to do so if he wont answer phone calls or email.

He apparently is starting a small web design company.

Send him a letter saying he may have just won $10 Million?

A friend is a big-time computer and internet nerd. You would never know it if you saw him. I will see what he has to offer.

Is there an opportunity to allow him to design the site, for which you are wanting to buy?

The site has already been designed, the thing is the current domain name is close to, but not exactly, the name of our company. This really is not good enough.

I have found some info on him.

I bet a smart lawyer could find a way to subpoena him for something like copyright infringemnet as a kind of bluff, just to get him to start talking. That is way down the line however.

Dangerous road to subpoena him under false pretenses.

Find out what state the company is licensed in as a business. Some states have laws regarding business names being "close to" names of other businesses also licensed in the same state and can be forced to change the name. However, that said, internet domain names do not infringe even if they are similar hence all the jockeying around to grab up domain names and blackmail big businesses into buying them. I don't think a copyright infringement suit would get you very far.
