Another question Myfico site

I was playing with the FICO stimulator to see how much my score will rise if I can get these neg's off my credit report--it jumped a 75- 100 points.

While I was playing with the stimulator, it said have you ever been delinquent, I said yes, another screen pops up and says something like:

Have you ever had a judgement, etc or COLLECTION ACCOUNT in the PAST 10 YRS.

Does this mean that collections are held against you for 10 yrs and not 7 yrs.

The critieria also had was it more than 4 yrs ago. The score still took a 25-50 pt hit even when it was more than 4 yrs old.

With no lates and current my score was 825, with all my old stuff it was 625-650. With just one 30 day late 4 yrs ago it was 775.

With AFNI and ICS it fell down to 525-550.

The simulator is nothing more than a shiny bauble to distract the consumer. Much like FAKO scores, the simulator should be ignored.

I agree with centex 100 percent on this one, the fico tool while entertaining It is only a guideline. Good eye non the less on the 7 vs 10 years for collections. I imagine the tool was broken hence why it showed 10 years as opposed to seven

I think they just lumped those together for the questions on the simulator. It is just that--a simulator. It's not the true algorithm computing your score.

You could get your report to the point that it shows 825 on the simulator, get your score and it's in the low-to-mid 700s.

This is a ploy to make people feel better and to pay thier money for the score monitoring and simulator. It's a major source of income for the CRAs, and the better it makes you feel, the more likely you are to pay.
