One Bill two collection letters with diff account numbers?

In June I received a collection letter for an alleged account owing one hundred and change, I sent validation request back then and they did not contact me again until this past Friday I get a collection call on my cell phone. They followed the call with a dunning letter.

This time the collection letter is for the same utility company but the balance is three hundred and change. Now the weird part is that both letters have different account numbers on the letter. I am assuming that both letters are collecting for the same account, how can I confirm if it is one account or two different accounts?

I imagine that calling them is an option, is that the best course of action?

How did it jump to $300?

Can you record in your state?

Do you want me to tell you to not be afraid to use the phone, or would you like to wait for Centex to tell you the same thing while b-slapping you around the forum?

It could be something as simple as a bad mail merge, and you got a bill for someone else as well.

Not sure how it got so high. Cannot record without consent

I am not afraid to call, however from previous experience they are going to care less about my inquiries as they will be more concerned with the "when are you paying" line. So I hate wasting my time, maybe I can find out who their attorney is and have them look into it?
