CA says they dont own the debt and has not, as of yet validated. Can they still try to collect??

sure they can.

Rare is the instance that a company goes out of business and records just go *ppof.* All of those documents are just like any other receivable...they were purchased by SOMEONE as an asset or are in the hands of a trustee in the even that the cessation of business was involuntary.

If you disputed within 30 days of the initial communication, they can't continue collecting until they do validate.

No I did not dispute early enough. Yes they are on my CR with the CA as the "Creditor Name" and the OC as the OC. So I dont have a shot at getting these dropped by paying the OC. Do you think I should just pay them and take my licks. from 02
