Packet8 Business Line

Just wanted to share a positive experience with their business products.

Before I signed up with them, I checked the local bell companies and found them a little on the expensive side; $55 dollars for a basic line $20 for additional long distance and $5 for a toll free with 7 cents charge per minute and I had to wait a week to get the line installed.

After a long time debating I decided to go with a traditional line, one week later on the date I was supposed to have the line working "nada" called the phone company and they told me it would be another week. I told them to shove it!

Went to office Depot and picked up a packet8 starter kit, installed it and activated. Had the phone working the same day, the auto attendant feature makes any company look more professional. So far the only kind of draw back is the fact that when speaking to someone trough packet 8 the voice seems to come trough a little louder than normal.

I had sunrocket and I never experienced the loud effect with them. The cost of packet 8, unlimited phone almost $50.00 dedicated fax line with free incoming and 300 minutes outgoing 9.99 Toll free 5 dollars 100 free minutes and 4.5 cents thereafter or I can get 1500 incoming minutes for 39.99.

So far, satisfied with the support I have received, the lines sound great! I did not try faxing yet, but I understand that faxing with them is as reliable as faxing trough a regular phone line.

Yes, but it is hosted by them unlike Vonage. its a technical difference that makes a huge difference.

What is the difference? I need this information so badly you wouldn't believe it (or maybe you would).

I found this Packet8 Virtual Office: Business VoIP Hosted PBX Small Business Phone System

But they certainly didn't write VOip for idiots.

There are some contact numbers on the site.

Everything is done by them. When Packet8 first started they had the business sector in mind from the beginning.

I think they have a better product over all. You use phones that are designed for the internet. Not trying to use POTS phones on the net via an adapter, etc.

Over my head . . . I take it that the product cannot be used with basic landline phones such a Verizon?

I'm ignorant with respect to all of this.

My understanding is that with Vonage you buy an adapter that connects to your computer, and you connect your regular telephone to the adapter to make it an internet phone.

Packet 8 has their own phones that would connect directly to your computer.

On another note - my grandson microwaved my portable phone yesterday - needless to say microwaves are not good for such...

Ya know, come to think of it, I didn't check the microwave. It was only in there long enough for me to jump up and see what he was microwaving.

The crayolas he put in it recently were hardier than my phone though.

I was just thinking that if any metal got exposed it could have sparked and ruined the microwave. But if you caught it that fast it's probably OK.
