Disputed...No Responses

I took all the wonderful advice I recieved on here and sent my first round of disputes out over a month ago. So far out of 12 different dispute letters, I only recieved 2 responses though the other 10 are still reporting. Any advice as to what direction I should head in at this point?

What did you dispute? Who did you dispute it to? How are the account reporting?

Re: Disputed...No Responses

I sent validation letters to all my creditors to see which ones would respond. Since only 2 out of the twelve responded I was thinking my next step would be to hit them for a second round and dispute with the CRA's at the same time and see what happens. Should that be my next step?

Re: Disputed...No Responses

The reason they have not responded is that they are not required to. Original creditors (OC) do not validate.

If the OC is not reporting their trade line correctly with the CRA's, in order to preserve your rights under the FCRA, you must first dispute the entry with the CRA's. The dispute must be detailed and on point.

In your situation, you have already raised a red flag with your creditor's. In all probability they have pulled your CR's to see how they are reporting. In my opinion, I would let it age for three to six months. Then start over and do it properly.

One of the best times of the year to dispute items is during the holidays. Time your dispute to arrive on a Friday between Black Friday and New years Eve.

Ok, will do. Thanks for the excellent advice. This all can get pretty confusing fairly quickly. Though one thing I guess I failed to mention. Non of the OC's are still reporting. All of those twelve are CA's or JDB's that I disputed with. Most were past the original 30 days but I still prompted that first to see what they would do. Should I still hold off until then or does this give you more info for me to approach this from another angle?

I just did my first ever round of disputes, I'm guessing the first week of October will be time to begin the second round.

If I time it just right, I could have my third round (if needed) ready to go in order to arrive on November 26, the day before Thanksgiving. The thirty day clock would mean they have to reply on or before Christmas day.

I'm thinking this might give the CRAs and OCs the fewest possible number of days to respond. Chances are the Friday after Thanksgiving the CRAs will be either closed or low staffed and nobody is going to start on my stuff until at least Monday. That gives them just three weeks and two days to be within the 30-day limit.

Or with today's computers and connectivity am I just deluding myself since the whole CRA to OC and back to CRA can be done in minutes?

BTW - this looks like a nice forum, I hope to learn here.

Ok, lets see if i can clear some things here for you. the first time that you get a collection letter, in order to preserve your rights you must dispute within 30 days of receiving it. Now if there are collections on your credit file and you disputed them with the CA the next thing would be to dispute these accounts with the CRA. Try to do no more than maybe 3 or 4 per dispute letter to the CRA.
