| Re: FTC Annual Report 2008 FDCPA "Last year, 2.6% of all FDCPA complaints, or 1,848 consumers, alleged that collectors failed to verify disputed debts, nearly identical to the figure of 2.5% in 2006."
I gave up mentioning FTC years ago, because the vast majority of people never file complaints. Many on boards on the net think it is a waste of time. There were probably 1800 posts on this site alone that claimed violations in the validation procedure. Well, as long as people take that apathetic approach, and attempt to become lawyers in the 20 day period between service and deadline for answer, the collectors will continue to violate FDCPA and have their way with consumers. |

| Re: FTC Annual Report 2008 FDCPA File some complaints people.
I filed some this morning because PR reminded me.
Early in my litigation history I always filed a complaint, but as I became distracted with law and litigation I forgot to file a complaint with the FTC.
PR is right....if the FTC gets enough complaints or significant complaints....they actually do take action against the collector or furnisher of informtion.

P.S. I filed my first FTC dispute this afternoon. Thanks for the link to their wizard. |
