Get CA letter, request validation. OC replies to validation with a couple statements and on he included letter tells me that they told CA not to call me by phone and only use us mail to contact me.

Like the sob's will do that.

OC sent validation to CA who then sent it to you?
This OC seems pretty good. How about trying to settle with OC and get it done with?
Most OC's IF you can deal with them, will settle for a fraction of the debt, and will also give you time payments sometimes.

Record any calls and begin to prepare your ITS.

I didn't understand the bolded part?

Are yo saying that you DVd the CA and the OC sent validation? If so, this is a non compliance and the plain language says, "Obtain and mail to the consumer." The reason the OC told you that is because if a CA is harrassing you and you tell the OC, they can be held liable. One of the first things I learned from Bud Hibbs's site.

I am always confused a bit by this. While I know that the OC is to send info to CA and then CA to consumer, how does one know this is the case?
Is the OC info mailed unopened and forwarded?
This has not been the case in my experience.

Well, there are no specific details and once you know what to look for you should be able to tell whether it is a print out debt software or actually from the OC. You just have to investigate. Look at the heading, small print, see if you recognize any dates or amounts....
Hey, we're all gonna be Sherlocks when we get thru learning about our credit!!!

I do do that, but I was just wondering if the OC's statements should be in an unopened forwarded letter.

Oh yes just call me Miss Marple , Mr.Poirot ; )

There's nothing in the statute that states that specifically, and I've not heard of any case law that says such. I would expect if the requirement had been unopened and forwarded, there would have been a big buzz about it.

Besides, how would the CA know who it was for if it was unopened?

Sorry I did not explain correctly, I send validation request. CA sends the letter to OC.

OC sends me lpackage directly with some old bills and in addition to the old bills the include on the package a letter stating that they contacted the CA and told them not to contact me via phone.

As I said above, this is a non compliance. Watch your credit reports and stay off the phone unless you record it.

Altough I do not mind CA's calling me, I recently changed my cell. Kind of hated doing that because I love when they call $$$

I think I will get a line at home just for them lol
