Are the people at the CRA's ignorant or just stupid?

Is it just impossible to get an OC off a cr?

I disputed a tradeline of an OC. The acct had been sold to a jdb, long story short we settled. JDB never placed anything on my cr. The OC is still showing. Transunion says it was verified and I get the mumbo jumbo that if I have court records...yadda yadda...to send them. I did all of that. Today I get this stupid letter stating that the info I disputed does not currently appear on my cr. They (think) I disputed a civil judgment, there wasn't a judgment to begin with. So I ask...are they ignorant or just stupid?

Anyone got any ideas where to go from here or is this just going to stick around til 2008 when it falls off?

An OC doesn't have to delete simply because they sold the debt and chances are unless you have them on FCRA violations as leverage, you will have to wait for it to age off. Wish I could tell you differently but facts are facts. You might try a goodwill letter or continue to dispute different aspects of the tradeline.

Go to the OC

Get a hold of someone important at the OC and explain why it would be in their best interest to delete rather than face a suit for violations of xxxx. There's no reason for them to keep the TL. Only a possible penalty to keep TL.

You must bypass the system. If you try this and it doesn't work then try the same thing at TU.

I have to do the same thing at Experian. Had a CA who was showing a $50 debt that was disputed and then the CA changed it to a -0- balance but, still show it as a collection account. That's stupid if there wasn't a balance due there never was and no TL should exist. Experian just verified it so I have to

1) Send a detailed letter explain why they couldn't possibly change a TL from $50 to $0 and still show it as a collection when no payment was made using reasonable investigation procedures.
2) Copy their General Counsel or Exec VP and follow up with a phone call.

It might take hours but, if it's worth it you can do it!!!

I vote for stupid. I had sent a dispute to EX, they wait two weeks and send me a letter saying they could not access my report with the info. I had sent. Then gave me a list of what I needed to send, which I had sent. Had to send them a letter, with all the same info again, also told them their thirty days are almost up.
