My cell service provider, Sprint, keeps deleting any old voicemail I have saved from a collector who is seriously violating the FDCPA by continuing to call me even though 1.) they haven't validated and 2.) I told them to do everything in writing. Sprint seems to be deleting any voicemail that is more than a month old. They are getting rid of my evidence! is there another way to save the voicemails?

I think most voice mail services do that. I don't know if there's a way to save it or not.

Can't you forward your voice mail? Most do.

I could. But where would I forward to? i don't have a land line. I guess I can forward it to my work phone. But I prefer not to mix personal with business stuff.

Now that's a thought! Again, I would probably have to use my work phone...after hours so that nobody will hear my bizness.

I think you can connect a digital recorder to your cell; Radio Shack has a kit ...I think!

As a backup, as soon as you get the voicemails, write them down word-for-word. Note the date and time as well.

If you have to testify as to the content of the voicemails, you can tell the judge you how you wrote it down. It's not as persuasive as the actual voicemail, but it's still pretty good.

According to Chaudhry, presentation of a cell phone in a frozen block of ice would satisfy a collector's obligation to verify a disputed debt.

Or would that be a misapplication of Chaudhry? It's so hard to tell these days.

Dear Dr,

I think it is time for you to come in out of the cold and thaw a bit.

If you have a speaker on your cell phone, you don't even have to use your work phone. Have the digital recorder set up, call your voice mail from your cell phone, play it on speaker, and record it.
