Nextel Horror

Hello this is my first post of many to come...

heres my q....
i setup an account with Nextel around the beginning of November I had the phone shipped to my work address and provided my mailing address for statements.
I never received a bill! I was very dissapointed with the service and attempted to cancel it within the first thirty days to avoid termination fees. when I called customer service no one would help me because they couldnt find my account, I didnt have an account # because I never received a bill.....i read out some #s on the back of the phone and got ahold of someone that was capable of finding it but they couldnt help me because my social security # was not listed on it.
After a few hours i got ahold of a representative that was willing to cancel the account....making an exception...and giving me an account #....I was informed a package would be sent for me to return the equipment....i never received anything...and representatives were not willing to help me....
my question is if by any chance this were to appear on my credit report how would i dispute it?

My name/Date of birth matched but everything else was from a complete stranger.

Nextels policy is within 30 days you can return equipment and only be liable for the minutes/service you used.

You just write a letter to the credit reporting agency saying that you dispute the trade line.

Did you sign a contract, or was this handled all via phone? (Signing up online is probably a contract with an e-signature.)

You're actually way ahead of the game...did you send them their phones back? And you have proof that you sent it back?

And did you indeed not use the service after the first 30 days?

the service was horrible I couldnt even use it within the first week.....the only reason I used it after the fact was to dial their customer care dept....im pretty sure their logs would show that.....

im going to subscribe to one of the credit report sites to check my report so when that it does come up I can take care of it quickly

Thats a good plan, and if you receive any letters from collection agencies, do not ignore them!
