| Need some serious help While in college I got a card through HSVC, was not able to make payments and eventually went to collections. I have been paying 50 a month for a bout a year and payed 25 instead of 50 for two of the months. Today I called because I could not make a payment because I just payed for school, I was yelled at, being told I had too, I was then transfered to a manger who did the same thing, making fun of my credit report, telling me I sure had the money then but I dont know, saying if she said I was a college student they would want the money in full, then kept on lecturing me then just started she wants the money in full or the 29% intrested will be added on from back when the debt started, I then said Im going to seek advice online, got laughed at again by her and the phone ended, Do i have any options here? |

| Welcome.
Internal collections within HSBC? Or an external CA?

| Help us out a bit. What's the approximate balance (don't be exact). Is this CA reporting?
Most people, myself included, got into this situation because we decided it was more important to eat and have a place to live than to pay an unsecured debt, when the unexpected events of living got in the way. Take care of yourself before you try to please a CA is my opinion. |

| One more thing...make a mental note as well as a written record of what was said and who said it to you on the phone and did I say, "Stay off the phone?"

| the debt is 526 at the moment, it started off at around 926. It's from collections now the actual card as the card got charged off, I checked my credit report and there is nothing on there from collection agency, only that they looked into my credit. |

| This is a tough call, with that balance amount. Stay off the phone with them. Send letter CMRRR stating what you CAN do and they can accept it or suck eggs on the balance, the account is in dispute, do not call, etc. But be polite.
IMHO, weighing the needs of self to a CA, self comes first. |

| As it has been said, don't let them get you down. Jackasses will be jackasses and you got a couple. Pay what you agreed to when you can, life happens and sometimes when you ain't got the money you just ain't got it. Like neil said, if all I had was $25.00 and the choice of eating or paying a cr cd, guess which comes 1st?
