AU and the penalties of its notation?

I seem to remember reading somewhere in the AOC archives or case law section about the AU not being responsible for the primary account and if the primary account holder defaults the information may not be reported on the AU's CR. I can't seem to find it again though. Did I have too many of these?

The information can be reported on the AU's account as long as that person is an authorized user, but no action can be taken against an AU. If you're an AU on someone's account and there is derogatory information, get them to remove you as an AU. Then dispute that you are not an authorized user on the account.

Well, not so easy. The account is one that is in default and actively being pursued so I don't think we'll have the cooperation needed to accomplish that. I have already disputed the TL's twice to no avail. Looking for an angle. Hey, maybe I, since I'm an AU, can call to have me removed and if they say we have no records of this account I can say well then "how the heck have you verified 2 times that I'm an AU"? Maybe that'll get them to budge on the next dispute.

I don't think they have a choice about removing an AU if the account owner wants him or her removed. Now, if it's a joint owner, they won't remove because both are liable for the account. But the AU has no liability so there shouldn't be any reason not to remove that person.

Unless the account holder just doesn't want to speak to a CSR, which is understandable. But a letter should accomplish the purpose.

It's definitely an AU issue because my wife, love her to death, decided to put me as AU way back when she opened the accts and never told me until I mentioned it to her. "Oh yeah, I put you as an AU". Thanks dear. Now I'm trying to correct it.
