Vacating judgment????

I have a judgment against me, and I am prepared to pay it in full. The atty. (well actually the para) at the plaintiff's firm is telling me that they can't vacate the judgment, that it's something I need to take up with the court directly. Is this true? I thought that they could motion to vacate the judgment. The para also lied to me and told me that there is a lien against my house and that there has been since May.

Suggestions please. I'm in NJ, and I really don't want this in my public record for the next 7 years.

Now understand this is what I have learned recently about TX law. In TX, I need certain reasons (I forget what they are at the moment) to be able to prevail with vacating. Either side can file for one though.

Also, they file an Abstract of Judgment (AJ) which shows up in the real estate title search. This is the equivalent of a lien because if I sell my house before I pay off the judgment, the title company pays it with proceeds from the sale. I have never seen one, so I do not know if it specifically names my property, or just in general.

You should speak with a NJ attorney about your specific situation.
