Help!!!!!! Old creditors and now new medical bills....

I intend to pay my creditors eventually, however I CAN NOT afford to lose a recent insurance settlement check I received as I need it for medical bills and costs related to a recent accident. Is there a way to deposit the check and hide the money until I am ready to pay my old creditors??

Someone told me that if I opened a bank account or a stock brokerage account as a joint account under "Tenancy in common" and limited my ownership to like 1% - the creditors can only sieze my 1% of the account. Is this true?????? Does this mean I can open a joint account with anyone and no matter how much I deposit into the account, they can only ever sieze 1% of the account??? This seems WAY too easy. Anyone know if this is true?? If this is bogus, does anyone know of another way I can temporarily hide this recent check from my old creditors? When I say hide it, I mean HIDE IT... I have a bunch of old lawuits and judgements already issued, if I deposit it into a regular bank account it will get swiped quickly -- like the rest of my money did..

I am desperate, please help..... The insurance check becomes invalid in about 1 month and I desperately need the money for therapy and other accident related expenses....

Do not use any banks close to your residence; in fact, I mean only banks far, far away: across country if possible and it is possible if you have a computer. There are internet banks, paypal, travelers checks, postal money orders...bonds...all things that are safe in case of theft or lost.

All things considered, if you are that concerned about the funds being found, then find one of the 1% check cashing places and pay the premium to cash it...I know I was doing that with checks I had from the firm when the IRS was trying to levy personal accounts.

(I didn't feel comfortable with that amount of cash in my pocket, but it was better than depositing the check and having the IRS try and take it all...nothing like fending off three separate levy attempts.)
