Acebo beginning to fix my credit

Does one just request for numerous misspelled name versions, past addresses, old telephone numbers and former employers to be removed or is there a special way to do it?

I had a lot of luck with this approach. Employment data is for demographic purposes and not credit related.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have recently received my credit report from your company. After reviewing the report, I have found several inaccurate items that I would like corrected. Please review the items listed on the attached pages and (update or delete) as requested. I have enclosed a copy of my driver’s license and Social Security card for identification purposes.

Personal Data:
My current address is
123 Main St.
Cut and Shoot, TX 77777
This has been my address since 03/1992. Innacurate addresses can lead to ID theft from prescreened offers. I am requesting all other addresses be removed from my report. I also request that all employment information be removed from my report, as I have been recently informed that employment information is not used in credit decisions, but is for demographic purposes only.
Please delete these items.

You should be able to do the same thing with names. Something like "the correct spelling of my name is John H. Doe. I also use the name Jack Doe.

Please remove all other names and alternative spellings, as they may also be used in ID theft.

I sent my request in. Do the CRAs respond with a CR for me to review? Or do I need to ask for another CR in about a month?

Also, when trying to catch violations how often do people order their CRs? And when doing so, should I keep writing for free copies saying that I have been declined whatever due to me CR?

They should respond after 30 days and provide you a free updated copy of your credit file.

I use a service like privacyguard to monitor the file when doing repairs. I Pull the report maybe once a week.

I received my reports and my employment information was removed. None of my old addresses were removed. They can't be all old accounts reporting, because some of the addresses are wrong apt #s etc. And Hedwig, I will do the same with names, but I didn't want to give them too much to do at the same time. And my old telephone numbers were not removed.

Do I send the same letter requesting additional addresses to be removed? Or do I send a letter asking for the specific obvious address deletions.

TIA

The more specific you are, the greater the chance of removal. If it were me, I would mention litigation as a way of removing addy's that were not mine.
