We were told at the beginning of the month that Wolpoff & Abramson, Eskanos & Adler, and Mann Bracken were each bought out by Axiant. Each of the law firms will continue appear in court under their firm names, and all of the attorneys will still be employees of the firms, but all of their collections accounts are now merged. All non-legal personnel (everyone except attorneys) now work for Axiant. I do not know what states Wolpoff and Eskanos have actual attorneys in, but Mann Bracken is set up in Georgia, Tennessee, North & South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, D.C., and Texas. The Mann Bracken attorneys will take Wolpoff and Eskanos accounts in those states and sue. The same goes for the other entities - they'll take Mann Bracken accounts in their "live" states and sue.
No word on who the CEO for Axiant is.
Also, Mann Bracken is reaping the benefits of arbitration in Tennessee. When they sue on an account that has an arbitration award, they simply submit the arb award to the court for confirmation. The debtor cannot even challenge it. There is no possible defense. Debtors have 60 days to appeal an arbitration award with the forum. After that, they're screwed.

| I don;t know about other states, but W&A has attorneys in FL. In FL non-FL Bar members cannot own a law firm.

| They also have attorneys in Maryland, so the part about Mann Bracken taking the cases in the listed states doesn't make sense. In fact, W&A's headquarters is in MD--Rockville, I believe.

| I know for a fact that MB has ONE attorney licensed by the state bar here in WV. I have met him...he has CP and is on crutches. I accidentally let the courthouse door slip and damned near knocked him down...he dropped his briefcase and papers and yes, I am a horrible person...

| Hannah, be careful. You have to undergo a character check before you can become a lawyer, you know.
Wait until AFTER you're an attorney.

Wait until AFTER you're an attorney. | I have heard people say that I'm a character...
Like tonight I lectured the planning commission on what a planning commission actually is supposed to do. They all looked at me like they have never read the city code...

Something like, "A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but only a true friend will be sitting right beside you saying... "Damn! That was fun!" I figure we will be sitting beside each other in Hell saying the same thing...
