Requested validation, got an itemized leter in return

If I remember correctly from TR, when validation is requested CA is supposed to contact OC and obtain the validation and then mail to you. In this case, CA sends an itemissed letter that looks ok but it is not from the OC nor on the OC letterhead.

Repply telling OC validation not good enough and if they continue collection activity sue their arses?

The plain language of the statute [1692g(b)]says to "obtain and mail to the debtor." Is the itemized statement correct? Do you owe it? Is it within the SOL?

Yes to all the above, statement looks close enough. I am thinking about firing up another letter letting them know that their validation does not complies with the requirements and see what happens lol

If they continue collection after that, then file federal for continued collection activity etc...

I don't believe in letting them know anything. Let them keep violating or give them some rope to violate.
