Bankruptcy, how long on a Credit report
I have been through a CH7 BK approx 2 years ago. I know that it takes 7 years to fall off my credit report, can I do anything to make this go away quicker. Also some of my IIB's state they will fall off after the initial 7 years is up (10 years) Is this correct. I was under the impression that everything would be cleared after 7 years from discharge.
Appreciate the answers,
Ian

The public record will stay for 10 years. Although some people have gotten it deleted, it seems to be pretty hard. The record will stay on your full report (which can be pulled in certain instances) pretty much forever.
The individual trade lines should still be removed seven years after delinquency. Using some of the techniques on this board, you may be able to get at least some of them deleted before that.

Thanks for the reply Hedwig, how long should I wait before trying to get this off. How long does it affect my credit score. This is the only negative on my credit, except a paid/charge off through my bank, but that is on another thread.

I really don't know how long to wait.
As time goes on, the impact on your score decreases. However, no one can really know how much any one item affects your score, since the model is secret.
It would also depend on other factors, such as length of history, utilization, and other factors. While I have seen people give estimates on how much certain things affect the score, no one really knows for sure.

All accounts that were included in bankruptcy (IIB) should be noted as such.
If the account is not reporting accurately, dispute it with the CRA as inaccurately reporting and do the same with the data furnisher (DF).
