Have Question About Portfolio
Ive been reading alot of post on here and everyone seems very helpful. My question is... I checked my CR and Portfolio says i owe them money for some account i have no knowledge of. They also reported to the CRA's that i have made a recent payment on this account, which i have no knowledge of. The alleged account is a few years old and they are showing a recent payment on this account. What or which way do i need to pursue this. Thanks for any information.

I would dispute the tradelines to the CRA's. Wait 30 days for them to update. Next I would write a letter to Portfolio disputing the debt. Has Portfolio contacted you in any way?

Making a payment in some states resets the statute of limitations. Some debt buyers do this to reset the SOL clock. What state are you in?
What does the tradeline say? Redact any personal info and please post.
I'm in the northern part of WV.

I'd send it now. We call it he "one-two punch". If the verify with the CRA's and not you then that is a violation.

It says reported in 04-08 Recent payment $300.00
Shows high balance of one amount and owed three hundred dollars less.

Typical - you haven't opened an installment account with them.
They do not issue credit.
