| more help please - dealing with Verizon Well, got another dark spot on my report that I would like to get resolved.
I purchased 4 phones from Verizon about 4 years ago from a local retail store (owned by Verizon). The phones didn't work as well as advertised (we were trying their push to talk feature they just rolled out at that time) so I returned them.
Unfortunately like most things in the past, I trusted that a big company like Verizon would have honest people working there. I've since learned my lesson.... I'll ALWAYS keep and make records from now on. Anyway, I don't remember the exact time frame on their trial period to where we could return the phones and cancel the contract without penalty. But I do remember 100% sure that it was on the last day because I sweating it out that day to get there on time before they closed.
I took the phones to the service desk, they checked my account and said everything was in order. No cell mins had been used and there was no per min. charge for the push to talk usage. Like a dummy, I didn't get a receipt for the phones.
Now Verizon has two different collection entries for two different amounts on my report. They are directly with the OC nothing is being handled by a CA.
Last year I did an online dispute with the CRA and they were verified of course.
If I have researched correctly, OC's don't have to validate debt, correct? If I ask them to verify I'm sure they're going to say I returned the phones late (the local store probably didn't process 'till the next day) and I can't prove it.
Anyone have any similar experience or advice on which direction to proceed? |
