Daughter's CAs calling me

My daughter recently lived with me for about three months. She has had medical problems (breast cancer and the loss of sight in one eye) that cost her her job and had been unable to work for almost a year. She moved out and recently began a new job, but now I have a problem with collection agencies calling here. I keep telling the CAs that she no longer lives here and, with her permission, give them her current address. She has no home telephone and I tell them that. I keep getting phone calls at least once a day. Some of the callers are extremely obnoxious and rude. The last one threatened an "investigation", insisting that my daughter called her from my phone and, therefore, must still live here. I told her to go ahead and investigate, since I know I am telling the truth. She even told me to get in my car and go over and get my daughter-if she lives some other place (she lives across the county from me.) I am legally blind, don't own a car and haven't driven since 2000! Please advise me what to do or say to get these disturbing, threatening phone calls to stop, without jeopardizing my daughter's situation.

Dont let these idiots get to you. They are still subject to the the FDCPA even when calling you. You can send them a letter saying phone calls are inconvenient and they must stop calling you or they will be in violation of Federal Law.

They probably will not stop so you will need to record the calls or somehow prove they are calling you after they received this letter that you will send CMRRR. When they violate....sue them.

I am truly sorry about your daughters illness.

If they call again say some thing to the effect of:

My daughter no longer lives here. Do not call this number again. I routinely record my phone calls. Have a good day." Then hang up.

Thank you for your suggestions and support. Evidently telling them she no longer lives here has no effect since they continue to call. I have considered just letting the answering machine record the messages, but I have a 91 year old dad who will hang up if my outgoing message begins. I will answer the next message (and I'm sure there will be a next one) as you suggested-telling them not to call here again....and hang up without getting into a conversation with them.

The key verbiage is "I routinely record my phone conversations".
