If I have a recording of a debt collector refusing to stop calling me, is that worth anything?

Only if he follows through and does not stop calling you. Or, if you had about 5 other different violations. I wouldn't bother if that is all you have. But, file it away for future reference just in case.

I've already got at least one other one, they are harassing my family now.

Are you in a two party state? If not, that recording may be illegal.

Although there is ample case law, the mere telling a CA not to call may be insufficient. Have you DV'd the CA? Have you told the CA in writing to stop calling you and to only communicate in writing?

I just went through one of these situations. Did they send you an initial "dunning letter?" If so, did you DV them in a timely manner, asking them to not call at any time because it is inconvenient to receive calls? And did you send it CMRRR? I did all that, they kept calling, I sent them letters reminding them of this, they kept calling. I did not record, but I took pics of caller ID with their number, and filed in court. They kept calling until I said something to the attorney. Then they paid.
