| Collection Company Sending to Atty Hello all!
First of all - I screwed up on my member name - It was brino7 but when I was typing the line was blank and I was typing blind so - walla - I became brino7bo7riin!
Here's the deal. I originally was in a debt solutions program with Clearpoint. I had over $116,000 in debt and when I left the program I was down to about $20,000. Bottom line: they were screwing up and I felt I could negotiate with the creditors and deal with them more effectively. Boy was I wrong.
So that $20,000 got down to about $7500. And I had one stinker in the bunch - American Express $6500.00. So - I was paying them about $500 for 3 months or $1500 but for some reason they never credited the account or acknowledged anything. No bill was sent, etc. They simply turned me over to collection - NCO Fiancial Systems.
Upon recpt of their letter in 07' I immeadiately acknowledged their letter and called them. I told them about the missing $1500 and advised I would work with them. I offered a quick settlement but each time - I felt they were not willing to work with me. I've written a letter each month since November 07.
Each one asks for proof the company owns the debt. That I've disputed the original debt within the 30 days of their first letter, I've asked for a contract between them and American Express and I've asked for a payment history.
Each time, I'm ignored. When I call them they only say they want $6500.
The last letter says - They are giving me 30 days to make arrangements to pay the balance or they will turn into an attorney. If you have any intentions of resolving this account. - I do! They won't work with me!
