Daughter needs advice

Short & sweet,

My daughter is being sued for a cr cd debt. The assignee's attorney wrote her a letter saying that they could settle for $1300.00 which is only $250.00 less than they are suing for. I think she should give a counter offer of $200.00.

What do y'all think of that?

Go back and read the Botch Attorney thread..... Some stuff in there about offers...also relate to counter offers.

What does she want? And, when does she want it?

Based on the strength of their case vs your daughters case, she needs to pick a $$ value in counter offer that can get her where she wants to go.

$200...all depends.

Lucy, are the attorneys aware that there might be an issue with the legality of the contract given your daughter's age at the time?

Are you discussing at all the status of the tl on her credit report?

Yes they are aware because in her answer this was one of her defenses and no there is not any discussion about her credit reports. There never was any discussion about a settlement until she filed her answer with the court, might be coincidence but makes me wonder...hmmmm.

Its probably no coincidence Verify when the answer was received before responding... You should be getting out of this with no negative reporting, and a lot less than 1K
