| Bad Credit and its not my fault Got a question. I took out 2 loans for a friend of mine. After about 2 years he had money problems and went 150 days without paying both loans. I actually never knew cause I had the bills go directly to his house. I found out myself when I couldn't get a Sears card. Anyway, after I almost killed him he started making the payments again. One of the loans has been paid off. The other still has a significant amount to pay off. This happened in 2005. Can someone tell me if I can do anything about my credit. Since he has picked up the payments again is there a way to talk to the bank to see what they can do. Is it better to pay off the other loan or is it better to keep paying the monthly bill. I have never had credit problems before so I have no idea what to do. Please help. |

| Two things you can do. First, write a letter to the bank and ask for them to take the lates off as a good will gesture on the loan that is paid off. They may not but it never hurts to ask.
It would probably be better to pay off the other loan if you can. You don't know for sure that your friend will continue to pay timely so it will hurt your credit again if the same thing happens and it will be a newer ding on your credit.

| Good thing he resumed payments, its not a very bad situation, i think all you have to do is wait, keep using your credit cards, you'll recover. |
