| Is this an ongoing child support case? If it went into collections 7 years ago, it should be deleted, however, if you are still obligated to pay child support, and it returns to collections, then they might be.
Child support is a bit more unique then other types of tradelines.

| I am still paying child support and have not been late other than the collection they have on me in 2001, and i am not planning on ever being late again. so your saying by me being obligated with ongoing child support they can bring that 2001 dept back again? I don't believe thats fair, if that the case they should not even delete it they should just leave it there.
thanks |

| No, they can't bring the 2001 debt back again. You misunderstood. jlynn was saying if it returned to collections it could be re-reported and would not be considered re-aging or a re-insertion.

| I am somewhat dissapointed that they decided to report child support. It is not an obligation worthy of being used in a credit scoring process. The same with medical bills.
Either way your not borrowing money. It's simply a tool used to give someone extra hardship for uncontrollable circumstances.
One of my good friends has a lot of late payments for child support, despite having payments automatically deducted from his paycheck. He fell victim to the states requirement to report payments to credit bureaus, and the states inability to properly account for on time payments.
If I were you I'd do what I could to get this erroneous item off your report. It should already be falling off your reports. |

| thanks everyone i have been disputing it but each time it comes back verified. the whole cra investigation is all most up with my report and this time i will be asking them to delete this dept because it is obsolete and i will used this code (§ 622. Information on overdue child support obligations [15 U.S.C. § 1681s-1) hopefully to persuade them to delete it.
the dept was delinquent in 6/2001 so i guess they are waiting on 6/2008 to delete it. |
