Question About Disputes, RE: Data Furnished

Hi All,

I have a question about how to dispute a dept store credit card. It is outside SOL and has a balance which was charged off --under $50.00.

That's the first reason I'm not convinced it's mine.

But for this one item, I don't have credit card bad debt, now that the "not mines" which really weren't mine, are gone. My FICO problems lie elsewhere.

Second, it was opened in a place where 4 other Credit cards were obtained by someone using my info.

All the other stuff has been deleted with letters from the OC's, to me, stating they are not mine. That's an aside but it's this forum that allowed me to accomplish that so: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I really do not have any recollection or record of opening an account at this store. Now that it has been verified as mine by all 3 CRA's I believe I should do the request for how they verified it as mine, from whom they got the info, etc.

I was wondering if the fact that the info being furnished relative to this account, is quite different on all 3 credit reports, is something I should include or ignore at this stage of disputing.

All help much appreciated!

Yes, ask how they verified and the info of the furnishers. If you don't remember having an account with them just say that you are requesting a description of the method of verification as I do not recall having any business with this entity or something to that affect.

Thanks much RB!

I really do search for these answers before I do a post. If I can't find something right on point I will ask.

You may consider claiming ID Theft. I would contact the OC first and see what they produce and then react accordingly with the CRA's.

Okay thanks!

I did speak at length with the OC yesterday.

They don't have anything with my signature or basically any proof this is my account other than the fact that my info was used to get it in the first place.

Then, I sent them a letter, per their request...kept it non argumentative.....
to have the whole matter whooshed to the fraud dept there.

I am hoping this approach along with the paperwork I sent, will get it deleted from all 3 CR's.

Okay then,

I'll post what happens.

This is my last credit card TL showing an unpaid charge off.

I have noticed that when my not-my-bad-debt-CC's were first coming off the reports, the positive affect on FICO was less than it has been of late. It seems like the less negative TL's I have, the bigger a boost when any one thing goes away.

I saved for last, my Citi Card listing which is not mine and was apparently paid after charge off. I have saved it for last CC TL to dispute because it is expanding the length of history and was at least paid.

Well, I said I'd post the results.

The CRA's ignored my certified mail request for info on how it was verified and sent out the standard "screw you it isn't deleted" response.

The OC has it sitting in its fraud department and is refusing to address the issue because it is outside SOL and "we aren't doing any collection activity, we can't."

Except they keep verifying it as my chargeoff, to the CRA's without truly investigating and it's my understanding that that is collection activity.

Now what???
