| Unpaid medical bill on credit reprot should not be there Hi I have a medical bill on my credit report which it is not for much but it is for a car crash I was in back in 2005. I settled for the $2000.00 for my medical bills and $2000.00 for myself, which I was fine with because my medical bill was less than $2000.00 I think it was around $1500.00 to 1800.00 I'm not sure of the exact amount (it has been three years). Anyway the insurance company was supposed to send the full amount to the doctors office for the total amount of my bill or the full $2000.00 right, well somehow I now have an unpaid bill supposedly for the amount of $125.00 and I don't know how to go about getting this off my report. Please if anyone can help I am open to suggestions.
Thanks J |

| Since its been 3 years, I would start by sending a validation letter to the collection agency reporting the debt.

| Hello: I have a somewhat similar problem/question. I took my daughter to a medical consultation in alabama while I had active medical coverage through michigan in the year 2000. They billed me $115.00 which was supposed to be paid by michigan bc/bs. Evidently the medical facility and michigan bc/bs were unable to communicate effectively. On my CR I now see it was sent to collection and reported on my CR in 2006 and cited as "assigned" on nov 1, 2002. It seems to me the whole thing is out of SOL since there has been no activity (payment) since 2000. Additionally, I would PAY the $115.00 to have it removed but it was not something that I OWED!
Does anyone have any suggestion as to the quickest way to get this issue settled?
Thanks. RWS

Thanks. RWS | In general, your medical insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, so yes the debt is yours.
Have you contacted the doctors office to ask about a pay for delete?

| It has been so long ago I do not even know who the provider of service was. The date of service was 2000. This is 2008. Is this not obsolete? I suppose I will stop off at the hospital medical facility and see about tracking this thing down, but I really want to scream at somebody because this is really an issue between the MD and michigan bc/bs.
Thanks, RWS |

Thanks. RWS | I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. Had to see a Dr while in TN but have BC/BS insurance in Alabama. The co-pay had been paid but I started getting collection letters from the TN Dr's office. The TN Dr's office was sending the claim through BC/BS of TN instead of AL. I called my BC/BS office and was told that no claim had been filed. I called the Dr's office and gave them my insurance info again. This went on and on for about a year. It was sent to a collection agency, I disputed it and it came off of my cr's.

Thanks, RWS | No, it's your issue. Read your insurance contract.
Being eight years old, it should no longer be reporting. Dispute it with the CRA's as obsolete.
