Buying a phone number
I need to buy a phone number for my business. I'm currently running the business from my home, but will soon move to an office. What are your suggestions when it comes to a phone number? Should I just use a generic cell phone number for the business until I move to the commercial location? Someone give me your opinion.
Thanks!

Superbuyer,
I think that you want to know how will having a generic number affect you or will it help you with regards to business credit?
If that is the question, you can use any service you like, whether a cellphone or voip and then go to this site;
List Yourself
You can list any number as your business number and they will list this number in 411, which is what you really want if you have a business and want to apply for business credit. Hope this answered your query!
I moved the thread to the business section as I think is a more appropiate forum for this thread.

Call your local phn comp. Get what is called a Remote Call Forwarding number.
It is a virtual number that when called can be forwarded to any number you wish.
I have one from Bellsouth and it costs $18 and change a month.
Plus you get listed in the white pages.

I had this service before, the only problem I had was that they would list the address as the one where the switch was located. Did you have the same problem?

No, I had a UPS store type address. It was a mom and pop operation and I used that address.
It worked for me.

Are you talking about buying a phone number from a VOIP company?
I recently bought a UK phone number from Gizmo Project, so that my UK customers can call me for free. It only costs around $4 per month. Nice deal, I must say.
