I'm a foreign national, from the Czech Republic. While I was in The U.S. for about seven years, I accummulated bad debt and had a house foreclosed on utilizing my own social security number.

Now, I have repatriated back to the Czech Republic and wanted to know for sure if the negative reporting on my U.S. issued social security number might followa and hinder my getting credit in the Czech Republic. I would appreciate your input with no lecturing please. I am aware I erred, I now need to know what the potential problems could be more for me to obtain credit in Europe. Many thanks.

I am not 100% sure. In completing credit applications in your country or EU countries, if you were to list your US credit profile, I would think that it could hurt you.

Yes, thank you. But could the US credit troubles show up whether I list them or not? I need to know for certain. Thanks.

Nicola, I do not think anyone here is qualified to answer that question without a doubt. Why not call a banker in your country and ask them?

I do know for a fact that Experian is in the UK and they cross reference with their US counterparts.

I called and asked.
