While I am not currently a friend to Cap1, you have great credit and I hear that if you are on good terms with them they give good rates...like I said, "That's what I hear," but personally I know Cap1 can be a dirty low down son of a gun. This is the car that you showed us a pretty picture of on AOC, correct?

Yeah, that's that pretty picture. I trust it still looks this good? How many miles do you have on it now? And yes, I agree Cap1 is really dirty when they want to be and it's no holds barred either. They start off like they are your friend, but it's almost like signing your soul away to them. Did you get any forewarning that the account was being sold?

It's almost a year old, and it still looks good. 15K miles.

No warning. I saw a blurb on Squawk Box (CNBC) about VW looking to off load some debt. In Saturday's mail I got a "good news" letter from VW saying that they sold to Cap1 and the terms are the same.

What I hate is I cannot pay at a webasite like I could with VW. I either have to pay through my bank bill pay or mail a check.

That sucks. I can pay my CapOne account online (in those rare instances where I actually use it--just enough to keep my $20K limit in the ratio mix).

That's news; I thought you could pay your notes on line

Nope, I called them. "CapOne Auto Finance currently does not offer that feature. But we are going to offer it sometime in the future."

BUT - they offer a pay by phone service for $8.95/payment.

And when you make payments thru the mail, I swear they hold your payments just to make them late. I have sent payments two and three weeks ahead of time and the payment wouldn't post until something like the day before or on the day it was due. Right in the nick of effing time."

Comcast holds them til they are late even if you send em in early by mail...I always pay online now as I can document when they are paid. Everyone I know that still mails them in gets hit with late fees. I am sure they are not the only ones who do this...

I thought that practice was outlawed and they had to mark it as paid upon arrival, wether they open the letter or not.

Just because it's the law doesn't mean they do it. Think about those $3.00 late fees times 100k customers is a nice chunk of change...when I disputed the late fee once, I was told that only 1 in 250 or so dispute late fees.
