Got a check yesterday
Yesterday I received a check from EDELIST,for $1.71.
I know that many times this is a scam from a JDB to get you to cash it and then they know where you do your banking.
I did a search on line and it seems that First USA was sued in a class action suit and this is my take of the suit.
Here is the whole case. So go ahead and cash it if you get one. : )

I would venture to say that more often than not, it is NOT a JDB that is involved...every one I have seen has been advertising stuff where you are agreeing to use some product or change to another telephone provider or some other conditional act that they know you won't remember to cancel at the end of the 30-60-90 day period.
The ones that tend to claim it is always a JDB trojan check are the paranoid delusional ones...

That would be a way not to be traced! If you're in the military, you can take a check like that to the exchange and they'll cash it, so the person sending it won't get your bank account information.
But I agree with centex, most are not checks from JDBs and many people are just overly paranoid about the whole subject.

I got a completely random check for some small amount a few years ago. I never did cash it because I was rather suspicious. If you're going to send someone a check like that, at least tell them what it's for.

That's why you try to find a place like the bank were it was drawn or maybe sign it over to a charity or another person so that your bank account information isn't on it.

I figured it everyone cashed their little checks it would add up AGAINST FIRST USA. I was reading an article that said only about 40% of people cash small checks like these so think about how much money First is getting out of having to pay!
CASH THE CHECKS!
