Cell Phone Telemarketing Nightmare

If this is true, this is really out of control. Cell phone companies can sell their number lists to telemarketers? WTF?

JUST A REMINDER....31 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being
released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale
calls. ...

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS... To prevent this, call the
following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your
time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO:

Actually, this is an urban legend that has been circulating for years. While you can list a mobile phone on the do not call registry, it is not necessary, and no law allowing telemarketing to cell phones in imminent.

Check out this page for more info on this hoax from Snopes.com.

Here is the link to the actual FTC page.

Hed is right; this is a myth and I've been spoofed before as well. Also see our section dedicated to the telemarketers that you can put a whippin on.

Anytime you get an e-mail that tells you to send it to everyone you know, it's pretty safe to hit the delete key. They're pretty much all hoaxes.

The ones that tell you if you're the 10th or 50th or some number signer, to send to someone who will track the names (it's usually Microsoft or someone will donate to a charity or a person for every signature) are the worst ones. They complile "sucker lists" of e-mail addresses from them.
