I am sooooooo done.
The school nurse just called to inform me that Master Jlynn hit is hand on a desk and his finger is swollen and bruised. She doesn't think its broken, because she can move it. That's what we thought when my daughter broke hers a couple of years ago.
This is the kid that just got out of a boot from ankle surgery.
I was just about to call and cancel his sister's appt at the orthopod, as they are contemplating shoulder surgery for her, but she wants to hold off and try more PT.
Maybe I should keep it, and take her brother instead.
On a brighter note - at least he's met his annual deductible. |

Hit his hand on the desk so hard he broke his finger?
Poor kid will be afraid to go anywhere soon.

Don't know if its broken. I need to see it, and find out how he did it. Most school nurses are not the ummm, cream of the crop.

Those steroids will do it everytime
As to the shoulder...the question comes as to why she believes more PT will take care of the problem. Is that a qualified opinion or is she listening to people that don't have medical backgrounds (ie. the old school trainer who subscribes to the theories of ice and more ice, and oh by the way, take this salt tablet).

You're right--if they're good, they'd be at the hospital making twice the money for half the time (at least around here).
YOU'RE afraid for him to go anywhere? I'd think HE would be afraid to go anywhere. Of course, with luck like that, if he stayed home he'd probably fall out of bed.

The trainer made the mistake of telling her it was all in her head. My mild mannered kid went off on her. I would have loved to have seen it.
Her MRI arthrogram came back normal, with some fluid around her bicep tendon. Both our doctor, and another shoulder specialist want to take a passive approach (and they also explained to her the documentation NOW needed for insurance purposes on a normal MRI). I'll give them a couple of weeks, but if it flares right back up - then arthroscopy is our only option.
So, they are modifying her upper body conditioning completely (after the rest period), and have given her some different exercises to pinpoint the spot on her shoulder that you can't touch without her yelping. I'm skeptical, but not thrilled with putting her thru surgery except as a last option.
Both of them agree that they can't feel an impingement, and that her rotator cuff is really strong from the previous PT.

Well the doctor said it wasn't broken. Of course when Master Jlynn held up his hand, she asked which finger, and I responded, ummm, the blue one that looks like a sausage.
Definitely did not instill me with confidence.

Jlynn, have you thought of investing in plastic bubbles until the kid reaches his majority???
