NewB here!...(frm Tx.)

Ok hello to all, hope to make great contacts and get some useful info/advise on here.

I'm here to start getting info on rebuilding my credit, and learning the facts/truths behind a "score" what afffects it and what not.

One of my biggest questions (if I may ask) is that I have found out that texas has a 4 year statute of limitations on debts...does this mean on attempt to collect or the amount of time it can be on your credit report? Can this deleted if it has been over 4 years?

Re: NewB here!...(frm Tx.)

Welcome to the forum!!!!

You will get better responses to your questions if you post them in the credit forum.

The reporting period that a debt can be reported on your credit report is seven years, and is set by federal law.

The Statute of Limitations that varies from state to state is the time period in which you are legally liable for payment of the debt. In most states, creditors can attempt to collect a debt even after the SOL, but if you are sued and go to court and raise the affirmative defense of SOL, you can get the case dismissed.

Texas has some very consumer-friendly laws, about which I know almost nothing. But if you post your questions in the credit forum, I'm sure you'll get some help.
