Examples of Answer to Summons

Is there (or does anyone have) an example of an answer to a summons?

Go to this website http://www.uslegalforms.com and search for civil court answer or whatever form you are looking for. You can download most as pdf's just to look at as a preview or pay to download to actually fill in the blanks. They are very good tracks to run on when needing to know how a particular legal document should be set up. A lot of them are state specific.

Make sure you check with the clerk of your court to see if they have any special formats, especially if you're in a local court.

Look at these and frame yours accordingly. Use the preview function. We can help you do that if you want to post the complaint (take out all personal info).

These forms are all for Mississippi but can be revised slightly to fit what you need.

I am a little late here, but in general there is only 3 answers to a summons

Admit, Deny, and Without Knowledge.

You don't want to include any more than that.

Hello to all, nice to meet you...
I received a civil summons today regarding a gasoline card debt. The 7 years statute of limitation is due to run out on it in Feb 08. What should I do?

Don't confuse the seven-year reporting period with the statute of limitations. The SOL varies from state to state and by type of account. The seven years that a derogatory item can be reported to the credit bureaus has absolutely nothing to do with the legal right to sue.

What state are you in, and was this a revolving credit card account? You need to find the SOL for your state. Perhaps all you need to do is show up and assert that this is past the statute of limitations, but we need a little more information first.

There are a couple of states with 20+ years as SOL in CC debt.

Really?? Is this because those states consider a CC a written contract?

With that old a CC, I am quite sure that the OC would have sold it off and a JDB can rarely, if ever, validate and prove it in court if defended properly.
