    comparison website conundrum

    Hi all,

I'm in the midst of the process of looking into a bad credit mortgage, and my friend recommended that i look at one of those comparison sites like godirect.co.uk or gocompare. She said they have some good deals on them, as they look at lots of different deals on offer, but i'm not convinced.

Has anyone used one of these sites?? are they any good??

    Help please!!

I've never used one for a subprime. I looked at mortgage comparisons at a web site once, and even though they say that each one won't pull your report, they did. I ended up with several inquiries.

I also ended up with phone calls incessantly for a week or so as they all tried to get me to take a mortgage with them. I ended up with a local broker anyway.

I recommend finding a broker in your area who specializes in mortgages for those with bad credit. Often if you go to a broker and they can't help you, they will refer you to someone. That's how I got my mortgage when I had all my problems.

A local broker will be aware of special programs for your state, whereas the web site may not.

I notice that one of the sites you listed is in the UK. Are you in the US or the UK?
    The answer is 42!!

Good heads up about the many credit inquiries and phone calls
I just did a little looking, and my CELL phone has wound up on sales call lists

If you allow a mortgage person to run your credit, request that before the credit is run that they take off of their loan application all of your phone numbers.

Recently the credit bureaus have been offering a "lead generation service" called tagging, in which all of your information is available for sale on a list that you have recently applied for a mortgage.
