Hi All;
after MONTHS of constant harrassment by these people I was FINALLY able to make it stop.
Call 416 753 4900 or 888 804 8198 ask for Margret Delaney, she is the ombudsman, give her your details and VOILA your number will be removed. it can take up to 2 days although she did say 24 hrs. Yes REALLY it was that simple!
In my particular case I had told her that I had been in contact with my lawyer who informed me of the ILLEGAL practices they were using, ie; calling more than 3 times per week (more like 3 times a day) and using the unknown name unknown number feature when they call THEY HAVE TO DISPLAY the number BY LAW (they resorted to this AFTER I had call blocked them from my phone at a cost of $6 per month) These idiots were told repeatedly the debt in question was paid 6 mos BEFOR they even started calling, which BTW was only a month late. The person in question no longer even lives with us. AND Ms. Delaney said I was under no obligation to divulge where this person is, even though I do know. I have seen this persons cancelled check and debt in question, these people are insane and MUST BE STOPPED
I further told her, forcefully BUT politely that should the calls continue I WILL take them to civil/small claims court for the harrassment, ($10,000) for lost calls on my business line, court costs, the cost incurred by me to block them. MY time (we are self employed) which I bill out at a 2 hr minimum @ $25.00 per hour, so that time wasted with their computers will cost em big time! I outlined my court claim as given to me by my lawyer who is basically reminded THEM of their legal obligations, I went on to tell her that I had also looked into the class action law suit pending against them and that I would not hesitate to utilize this also.
She was very helpfull even if I was really PO'd when I called. So if you call HER be polite she is there to help YOU
