Why are company's charging extra $ if you use a credit card?

@ my university I was paying with a Mastercard Debit and it stated an additional $10 fee would be added to the total, and When I went to purchase an ID fro the DMV it said the same thing but the fee was $2

Oh Boy! It's time to get used to all the fees that just about everyone in the merchandising Field, educational field, judicial and other governmental fields are doing now-a-days, they're getting that "something EXTRA" for putting forth service to us Public Consumers. They feel that they're providing a service to you and sometimes at a great bargain, big sale, and they feel that you owe them for making it convience to you so they tack on a fee to help them "compensate" or just feel good about themselves and get thata extra money from us to spread around to their "over-worked workers". You can't really beat them but you can at least ask them by calling or e-mailing to explain the charges to you and maybe even tell them that you're struggling and can't afford to pay. They may even waive the fee maybe one time. In the meantime, take a deep breath and dig deep into your pockets, wallets, purses, etc., it's only just beginning. Good LUCK.
