Besides all the answers here, they can also sue you. This happened the day before I file bankruptcy: the sheriff came to my door with a summons. Of course I didn't have to go to court because I filed the next day but it was scary because you don't think that credit card companies would do that but some will. I know how hard it is when you are struggling and it seems easier to just not pay but you have to face facts: you borrowed money that you need to pay back and if you can't file bankruptcy then call the credit card companies and tell them what you can pay. Even if it is $10 a month-it's SOMETHING and don't let them bully you into paying more because they get commission off of getting people to pay-esp. when it goes to collections.

They will call every day! Also, eventually they will sue you and you will be ordered by the court to pay the full amount. Better to call them and negotiate. I know it's scary but they will work with you! They are actually very nice and cooperative.

take it form someone who did the exact thing. They can send your account to a collection agency or to a lawyers office. Eventually they will get their money. Just pay whatever you can each month, you can have horrible credit if you ignore your credit card bills.

the credit card companies will sell your debts to collection agencies. the collection agencies will call your house every day harrassing you. if you change your number, they will find you. plus they will harrass the people who live at your former numbers.

it will completely ruin any chance you may have of getting another car loan, home loan or anything else as well.

They would send you to collections and your credit would be shot. It would make it really hard to buy a car, get a house or make any large purchase where you need to get a loan. Plus if you did manage to get a loan the percentage rate would be really high. What you should do is contact your credit company. Tell them your situation and let them know what you can pay. Before you call them though get all your bills together and figure what you can pay. A lot of time if you let the company know that you are trying to get everything paid off they will actually be very cooperative. My aunt had a similar problem. She figured out what she could pay and then she called her creditors and made them an offer. She was able to actually pay off some of them this way. It is kind of like if you went with a consolidation company but it is actually better to do it yourself. If you make an effort and really budget your money you can do it. Also if you pay them all off it will look much better on your credit than if you had a bunch of charge offs. I hope this answer helped. If you want me to explain what I mean farther go ahead and email me. Good Luck and God Bless!

More than likely they will settle with you for a lesser amount after 6 or 8 months of no payments.

just by closing your accounts dropped your credit rating, send them what you can, most of the time they will offer you a payout and knock most of the interest off,the only other option is to file bankruptcy. If you quit paying them they will keep harrassing you.If you talk to them they will work something out with you.
