Can I charge people when they pay with a credit card?

I'm a business that accepts credit cards - sometimes these are large purchases. I get charged fees when I accept the cards - can I pass this on to my customer legally?

Could I say something like - if you pay with a credit card there will be a 2% additional charge?

Thanks!

No, absolutely not. There is a law against passing the credit card fees on to your customers.

No..sorry about that but theres something called merchant law which if you charge a customer a fee to use his or her credit card they can actually report you to VISA,MASTERCARD,AMEX or whom ever cards you accept for charging them a fee. Thats why they call it "Merchant Fees" not "Customer fees"...your customer could then actually have you fined and or up to cancelled from you terminal subscription.
