what is the best way to pay off credit card debt?

i have about $4,000 and I'm thinking about consolidating them.. Is this advisable?
oh wow franco, thanks for that! if i needed that lecture I should have just gone to my mom.. i'm not interested in how great you are, I was asking a question about me.. so please, don't judge.. don't even try.. thanks!
uhh, thanks i guess for your help matthew but no thanks.. i just feel sad how people can be so judgmental sometimes when you don't even know the person you're talking about.. i was asking for advice, not asking you to pay for me!

DO NOT BORROW MORE MONEY. That's what got you into this mess in the first place.

Step 1 - Get on a budget so that you're saving money every month (spend less than you make).

Step 2 - Pay off your smallest card balance.

Step 3 - Take the money you were paying on your smallest card and pay off your next smallest over the coming months.

Step 4 - Take all that money and pay off the next card, and so on until you're all out of debt.

Step 5 - SAVE all the money you were putting against your debt so that when you need money you don't have to go into debt again in the future.

Or, you know, you could always just consolidate your debt, free up your cards, and max them out again and be even worse off than you are now. Your choice.

I would try a personal loan from a bank or credit union first, if that interest rate is to high, then I would suggest contacting the card companies and working out a deal.
