paid credit card settlement years ago, account closed, now being sued?

a few years back we had this credit card that went into debt and in time it went to collections, we ended up paying off in a settlement and the account was closed. A few years later we refied on our home, there was no debt and the credit card company was no longer on our credit beuro, all of a sudden about six months later (now) we were just served papers from the company, we know it was paid off but can not find the paper work to back it, what do I do now? Do I try getting a print out at the bank or what?

The worst thing you can do is "Do Nothing" Make sure you answer the complaint and go from there.
