How long is it legal for a "security" hold to be on a credit card. I stayed in a Sheraton hotel...
...almost a month ago for one nite while on vacation. A hold of 15% was placed on my card and still remains. The hotel says it is up to the credit card co/bank to remove it, the credit card company says I have to notify the hotel and have them fax a letter on hotel letterhead stating that the room was paid for and how I paid. This doesn't sound right. Other hotels on the trip did the same thing but the hold was released after a couple of days.
consumer, I said credit card, however it was actually a travel card from AAA, but had money left on it and it is being held.
