Do any of these stores force their employees to "force" credit cards upon their customers?

I work at a department store that is really aggressive about their cashiers selling credit cards. The problem is, most people don't want a card with a rate of about 26 to 32 percent (gee, I wonder why.....), Credit is pretty much the only things that cashiers get rated on. Some of the cashiers do extreamly well with credit..... Because they either lie to or flirt with customers...... I don't do either, and therefore, I don't get apps.

And if you don't get apps, you get fewer hours, and when you need help with something, you're very low on the list of priorities for management.

I tried talking to my managers about switching to a different position, but they refuse to let me simply because my credit app count is low.

I'm tired of all this I have to put up with simply because they can't realize that no one wants a card. So what I need to know is, are any of these companies aggressive about credit, and if so, how aggressive?

-Target
-JC Penny
-Walmart
-Best buy
-Kohls

Target, Sears, JCPenney, Circuit City, Best Buy, Kohls ... of course, all of these companies own their own "retail bank" so credit cards are huge profit centers for them. Walmart will soon be in the banking business, too, so I'm sure their staff will be urged to push the credit cards as well.

I shop Target, Penney, Kohl's quite frequently ... the others only occasionally. When the credit card question arises I used to say "no thanks" but in the last year or two the people always look so sad when I say that. So I changed to "I already have one, thanks" and pay in cash where possible.

When I was shopping for furniture recently I found all of the larger stores were more interested in getting me to sign up for their goofy no money down deal or something and nobody knew very much about the merits of different types of upholstery or the construction of a sofa.

I am very sad that the retail world is more interested in selling credit than in providing quality goods and services to the consumer.

I am certainly not an expert on this but I can give you my opinion on shopping. When I go into these stores the only ones out of your list that pressure me to sign up for a credit card with their store is JC Penney, Best Buy and most definately Kohls. They never ask me anything at Target or Walmart when checking out. Sometimes I see people with a table down one of the aisles at Walmart and Target but the cashiers themselves don't mention anything about a card- ever. Good luck- I would leave a job like that too.

You are capable of much more than a retail store job. Why not look for a job in a different field? Pick something you like and start applying for entry level jobs in that field. It may take a while, but eventually you will find a company that is willing to train and will hire you without experience.

If you want to talk to me about possibilities, feel free to email me.
