credit card late payment fees?

I have paid off half my balance today and the payment will take three working days to clear which means my payment wilI be late and I will be charged £12 The bank at whick I paid my bill told me to ring my credit card company and explain, but they said I would be charged anyway. Is there anything I can do to claim back the £12 or have I just got to pay it.

If you have always paid on time before, it might be worth discussing it with your credit card company, a one to one discussion, is far better than an automatic response from the internet.

Yes I think you have to pay but you could complain and change your credit card if your not happy. Better still is get another card but keep your present one but with a clear balance. That way they have the expense of administration.

Unless your credit card company will wave the charge there isn't much you can do, though next time it may be better ringing them direct and making a payment from your current account to your card as this would be a direct payment.

If you pay over a bank counter then it takes as you have found three working days for your monies to be guaranteed to your credit card company and by then it will be late.

The charge levied at £12 is around the level that can ethically be charge now so there would be little point instigating a complaint against a charge you were aware would be applied , nevermind the 6 months it could take to be told no.

Probabl;y you cant do anything. They will say you know the rules about payment dates and must keep to them. If you pay on line does it not get credited straight away.

I don't know about where you are but here if your payment is late, you will be charged unless your very good at begging. You have to allow time for your payment to be processed. Try begging. . .
