I understand holding the reservation with the card. I don't want the whole cost being put on my card. I would like to go to Ocho Rios, Jamaca. The sandles resort. Any ideas?

u dont have to book a vacation with a credit card. u can book it by cash.

Ask if you can prepay with a check. We sent a check in for our Disney Vacation, and it was accepted. When we got there, though, we did have to secure the room with a credit card. They do this mostly because of damage to the room or people using room service, etc. If you don't use any special services or damage anything, they will not charge anything on the card.

You can if you use a travel agent. Any hotel or resort will want a card number to hold a reservation. I have given a card number and paid cash when I got there before.
Some will just hold your card and not charge anything. Beware though, some will charge an amount over the estimated cost, to make sure you can pay.
Car rental agencies do that.
I think if you get an all inclusive,through an agent, you just write them a check.
